If you’re currently doing improv and want another opportunity outside of classes to learn and practice improv skills, or if you have never taken a class with Alchemy and would like to try it out, we’re excited to offer our monthly Improv 001 workshops.
Improv 001 is the opportunity to learn from the experience of Alchemy’s top instructors alongside other students and performing members of Alchemy Comedy. They are on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Go here to register for the next class.
Admission to the workshop is $25. If this is your first Improv 001 workshop, that $25 can be later counted as a discount toward the full cost of one of our 6-week Improv 101 classes. The price is only $10 if you have taken classes with Alchemy before, but are not a member of the theater. Here’s some information about the training center and the class instructor:
The school manager Harrison Brookie is a trained educator who has spent several years teaching public high school. He was also a resident instructor under Zach Ward at the DSI Comedy Theater in NC, which has heavily inspired our style and curriculum. Ever since then Harrison has served as the Artistic Director of the Alchemy Comedy Theater. The monthly Improv 001 workshops are taught by Assistant Artistic Director Ben Burris. Having been in a directing position in Clemson’s improv comedy group and the Alchemy Comedy Theater, Ben is a skilled instructor with an eye for scenes and a knack for fun!
Topics range from ways to collaborate and agree to how to think like a character. If you’re brand new to improv comedy or have been performing in a rut, come on by. The workshop is from 6:30-9:00pm. There is no comedy or theater experience necessary, it is encouraged for people to show up early and hang out after.
This class is designed to be challenging to experienced improvisers while still approachable to beginners. You can register for the class online. If you have any questions call (864) 256-1467 or fill out this form and we’ll contact you!
