May 30th/31st: Local Legends and Stand-up Comedy from Ace Brown! Stand-up Showcase with Art Sturtevant!
Friday May 30th
7:30PM – Stand-up Comedy with Ace Brown ($8)
Alchemy Comedy is committed to bring comedy to Greenville in all forms. We specialize in improv comedy, but also feature special stand-up comedy shows with out-of-town headliners. This week, we’ve got Ace Brown from Newark, New Jersey coming down telling jokes about life and relationships from his unique point of view. Come on out this Friday and make him feel welcome.
9:00PM – Local Legends with stories from Ace Brown ($10)
Friday’s second show features the all-star cast of Local Legends doing improv based on stories from Stand-up Comedian Aaron “Ace” Brown. Aaron grew up in Newark, NJ. He started in the entertainment industry as a child actor (age 8), and has since moved on to do commercials and short films. Since 2008 he’s been doing stand-up and has since attempted to branch out into improv, stage-plays, and film. He’s telling jokes in the early show, then he takes the stage as the storyteller in this week’s Local Legends.
Saturday May 31st
7:30PM – Dual Duel: Competitive Improv Games ($8)
Now in it’s regular time, this Saturday’s 7:30 show is Alchemy Comedy’s players in Dual Duel. Two duos in a head-to-head comedy competition for points and your laughs. There will be a mix of familiar games like those featured on the show Whose Line Is It Anyway?, some Alchemy favorites, and a lot of suggestions from the audience. Every week features the Red team vs. the Blue team vying for your affections. Come out and help decide who walks away a victor, and who simply walks away. You may have seen improv games before, but you probably haven’t seen it like this!
Saturday’s late show features some comics from just across the North Carolina border. Headlining the night is Asheville comic and the second ever Local Legends guest, Art Sturtevant. His comedy is as sharp as his suits, and refined like wine you can’t get at Bi-Lo. Art has been tearing up the region telling jokes for a few years now, performing all over the southeast including Laughing Skull in Atlanta, Theater 99 in Charleston, and regular performances around Asheville and with Greenville’s No Expectations.
This showcase also features another Ashevillian, the wry, clever, and sometimes dark, Jason Webb.
