Alchemy Improv Comedy is committed to teaching the art of improv comedy throughout the Greenville area. Whether you or your student are interested in performing or simply working on communication and collaboration skills for the real world, these comedy classes are for you! There is no comedy or theater experience necessary, so classes are not divided by experience, but by age. Here are the 3 summer classes are offer:

Kids Improv 101 (Ages 8-11): Here students will learn the basics of our Improv 101 class specifically tailored for kids. Improv 101 is an introduction to improvising a scene. This class will focus on the fundamentals of agreement, relationship, character, and environment. This class runs Monday-Friday June 24th-28th, 12:30pm-3:30pm. There will also be a student showcase on the final day of class.

Youth Improv 101 (Ages 11-14): Here students will learn the basics of our Improv 101 class specifically tailored for youth. Improv 101 is an introduction to improvising a scene. Adult Improv Intensives (Adults only): Here students will learn the basics of our improv classes. The first level will focus on the fundamentals of agreement, relationship, character, and environment as well as scene pattern recognition, creation, and heightening. This class runs Saturday, June 8th, 9:00am-5:00pm.

Greg Tavares has been improvising since 1985. He co-founded Theatre 99 in Charleston, SC in 2000. There he created the curriculum currently being taught by him and the other instructors at the theater. He has a BFA in acting from USC and an MFA in directing from the University of Nebraska.

The class will run on Sunday, October 14th from 2:30-5pm. Participants must have some improv or theater experience. The cost is $25 and you can purchase your ticket on Eventbrite or avoid the service fee by paying at one of our Friday shows.
