January 3rd: Harold Night and Local Legends with TimTV! (Tim March)

Posted on Updated on

7:30PM –  Harold Night: Long Form Improv ($8)

One of Alchemy’s goals is to connect the Greenville improv community with the larger world of improvisational comedy. Originally created by one of the founders of modern improv in Chicago, the Harold dates back to the 1960s and has maintained status as one of the oldest and most popular improv formats. Alchemy Comedy’s Harold Night is a monthly showcase of Alchemy’s Harold team and our new incubator Harold team, Harry. Come watch improvisers create entire shows out of your suggestions.

9:00PM – Local Legends with stories from TimTV ($10)TimMarchFire

Friday’s second show features the all-star cast of Local Legends doing improv based on the stories of Tim “TimTV” March. Tim is the definition of entertainer: fire-eater, stilt-walker, hoola-hooper, the list goes on. He’s performed at TEDx Greenville, Burning Man, and you can usually spot him performing in Greenville (just keep an eye out for the distinctive ‘do). This Friday we welcome Tim back to the Local Legends stage for more stories to inspire another fully improvised show. Come on out and ring in the new year with the first Local Legends of 2014!

October 4: Scared Scriptless and Local Legends with Kerrie Brown Seymour

Scared Scriptless8:00PM – Scared Scriptless with  Kerrie Brown Seymour ($5)

This Friday Clemson University Performing Arts professor Kerrie Brown Seymour will team up with the cast of Alchemy Comedy to bring you Scared Scriptless. This comedy high-wire act features unfamiliar scripts provided and performed by Kerrie. She will read the lines from one character while the improvisers fill in the other half of these scenes. Half play, half improv, totally fun show!

9:30PM – Local Legends with stories from Clemson University Performing Arts Professor Kerrie Brown Seymour ($8)

Friday’s second show features the all-star cast of Local Legends doing improv based on stories from Kerrie Brown Seymour. Kerrie teaches acting and Theatre Appreciation at Clemson University, just down the road.  Before arriving in South Carolina, Kerrie founded the Three Strange Angels theatre company in Rhode Island. She also has several directing credits including “Be Aggressive” at University of South Carolina-Upstate and has appeared in several productions in Greenville including “Reckless” at the Warehouse Theatre and “Crimes of the Heart” at CentreStage. We’re excited to have her back for more stories to inspire more scenes as this week’s Local Legend!

8:00PM –  Harold Night  and Kinda Llike Jesus ($5)

One of Alchemy’s goals is to connect the Greenville improv community with the larger world of improvisational comedy. Opening up for Harold this month is Kinda Like Jesus, one of Alchemy’s most unique independent teams made up of Micah and Mara, assuming they are excused from their night session of community home-school group.

9:30PM – Local Legends with stories from owner of Borderlands Comics, Robert Young ($8)IMG_1789

Friday’s second show features true stories from a guest inspiring scenes from the all-star cast of Local Legends. This week’s guest is Robert Young. Robert is the current owner of Borderlands Comics at the corner of Laurens and Pleasantburg. Borderlands Comics and Games is your destination for geeking out in Greenville. They’ve got old and new comics, graphic novels, tabletop games, miniatures, you name it. Robert took over with already over 20 years of experience in comic books, and this Friday he’ll tell all about it as this week’s Local Legend.
